Reflexology in cancer care

I work both privately and in a hospital setting with clients who are living with, and undergoing treatment for, cancer alongside their clinical treatment plans.

Whilst complementary therapies will not treat or remedy the cancer itself, reflexology can have transformative effects on patients' wellbeing.

This is often through reducing feelings of anxiety and tension, helping mitigate side effects like nausea, digestive issues and headaches, and improving sleep patterns. As well as just giving you time-out to relax and disconnect from the daily routine.

Reflexology and oncology

For many people, the symptoms of cancer and side-effects of medical treatments may mean a shorter reflexology session with a lighter touch is more suitable. It may also be necessary to avoid certain reflexes and give more time and focus to others.

I adapt every session to each person's individual needs, which may be different each session. Due to the heightened levels of sensitivity, I use only grapeseed oil, or a plain base cream, avoiding scented products or essential oils.

I provide treatments as home visits in St John's Wood, Marylebone, Primrose Hill and Maida Vale as well as working with patients receiving treatment at Leaders in Oncology Care - HCA Healthcare in St John's Wood and Harley Street clinics.

Suitability: making sure this reflexology is right for you

Unless your clinical team has already referred or recommended you for reflexology, please check with your clinical lead, doctor or Macmillan nurse before booking to make sure there are no reasons why reflexology may not be suitable in your particular circumstances.

There are certain clinical treatments which mean complementary therapy may not be advisable at a given time, or stage in your treatment plan. We will discuss your needs at the start of every session, and before your first session you will need to complete a consent form.
